For yet another year, Danobatgroup promotes female talent through the Gladys Award

The industrial group participated this morning, September 26, 2025, in the presentation of the Gladys Award as a collaborating company of the initiative once again. The event took place at the Faculty of Computer Science of the University of the Basque Country (EHU) and featured the participation of Iker Usabiaga, Director of Social Management at Danobatgroup, reaffirming the group’s commitment to promoting female scientific and technological talent.

The award, sponsored by the PUNTUEUS Foundation and the Faculty of Computer Science at the EHU, is sponsored primarily by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and supported by Emakunde, Danobatgroup, the Euskaltel Foundation, EITB, and the EHU Equality Department. The award pays tribute to computer scientist Gladys del Estal and aims to recognize young Basque-speaking women in the digital field, raise awareness of their work, and create role models for young women.

Recognition for researcher Mori
This year, the jury recognized the career of Usue Mori Carrascal, a professional who has strived to go beyond traditional academic research. Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at EHU, and since September 2024 she has also been the coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence. She holds a degree in Mathematics and has completed several master’s degrees, including in mathematical modelling, intelligent systems, and education.

The jury highlighted her work in favour of knowledge transfer. Mori’s projects reinforce the social perspective of artificial intelligence and translate research results into practice so that society can directly benefit. Her work shows that research does not need to remain confined to academia and that transformative technologies can be put at the service of society.
The jury stressed that she tackles the question “Artificial Intelligence: where from, how and for what purpose?” and explores pathways towards a better digital society, from a fair, responsible, and accessible perspective. Her work may mark the beginning of processes with positive future impact, grounded in a social and collaborative vision, always incorporating a gender perspective and cooperation.

Danobatgroup's Commitment to Equality and STEAM Talent
The support of the leading industrial group in machine tools to the Gladys Award is in addition to its commitment to other initiatives that promote the visibility and empowerment of women in the scientific-technological field, such as the Ada Byron awards, organised by the University of Deusto, which recognise female talent in the technological field.
