Its fourth sustainability report outlines the main actions and results from 2024, marking the final year of its latest strategic plan.
The Danobatgroup industrial group, a leader in advanced manufacturing, continues to make sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) a cross-cutting element of its strategy. This solid commitment was consolidated in 2024, the closing year of its most recent strategic cycle, with a total of 8,000 m² of photovoltaic panels at its headquarters in the Basque Country and more than €1.2 million earmarked for social transformation projects.
With this in mind, Danobatgroup launched a new Strategic Plan in 2025, confident that it is on the right path to meet the challenges of advanced manufacturing. Technological innovation, servitisation, diversification, and internationalisation will remain the key pillars of Danobatgroup’s ongoing commitment to the Basque Country, its people, and social well-being.
Steps towards decarbonisation
In 2024, we made significant progress on our path toward decarbonisation and our long-term goal of achieving climate neutrality. Through a series of internal workshops, our cooperatives analysed their emissions, identified opportunities for improvement, and laid the groundwork for a group-wide roadmap to reach Net Zero.
Since 2022, our main companies have been measuring all three scopes of their organisational carbon footprint on an annual basis. In 2024, this effort led to a 10,03% reduction in our Carbon Intensity Index (CII), decreasing from 887 to 798 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per million euros of turnover — a clear sign of improved environmental efficiency.
We also continue to strengthen our commitment to the energy transition. Today, our facilities in the Basque Country include over 8,000 m² of solar panels, and we are actively working toward covering one-third of our energy consumption through self-generated renewable sources.
In addition, the Soraluce cooperative achieved its second LEED "Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design" gold certification for one of its manufacturing plants in 2024. And in terms of the environmental impact of its products, in 2024, two new machine models were certified in Ecodesign, according to ISO 14006, bringing the total number of certified models to 26.
For its part, Danobat carried out the life cycle analysis of the DHD-T underfloor wheel lathe. The results obtained were also used to produce a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) and an Environmental Product Footprint (EPF) report.
We continue to encourage sustainable mobility among our workforce. More than 30% of our employees are now registered on our sustainable commuting app, which helped avoid 28,042 kg of CO₂ emissions in 2024 through carpooling and cycling.
Social Commitment: People and Community
With a workforce of 1,459 people globally — 1,000 of whom are based in the Basque Country — we remain committed to fostering inclusive, healthy, and equitable working environments. Every company in the group has implemented its own equality plan and promotes workforce well-being through dedicated programmes and certifications. We also invest in talent development, both internally and in the wider community.
In 2024, we supported multiple initiatives aimed at encouraging scientific and technological vocations among young people — particularly women — such as Mondragon City Challenge, ZTIM HUB, Zientzia Azoka, Bizilabe, industrial placements through Debegesa, and awards including the Gladys, Ada Byron, Mondragon TFG/TFM, and IMH prizes.
Our commitment to social progress of the local community involves yearly support of hundreds of socially oriented initiatives through earmarked funds. In 2024 alone, we allocated €1,277,738 to projects focused on social development, reinforcing our bond with the communities we serve.
In addition, we launched the third edition of Elkarrekin Eragin, our participatory social transformation programme, which is backed by a €600,000 budget over three years.
Advances in Corporate Governance and Sustainability
In 2024, we conducted a double materiality assessment to update our identification of key sustainability issues — considering both financial and impact-based perspectives — and to ensure alignment with our new strategic vision that starts this 2025 with Nerea Aranguren as CEO.
Furthermore, with a focus on creating a more sustainable and resilient supply chain, we have launched the HAZI project in collaboration with Ategi, Mondragon's purchasing centre. This initiative will enable us to design a concrete action plan to enhance the sustainability of our purchasing and supplier relationships, embedding sustainability at the heart of our value chain.
All actions and results linked to Danobatgroup's commitment to ESG aspects are available in the group's fourth Sustainability Report
