Danobatgroup honoured with the Business Innovation Award for 70 years of technological leadership in the Basque Country
- The industrial group was presented with the award by the Basque Business and Society Foundation during the 34th edition of the Basque Business Night.
- This recognition highlights its firm commitment to innovation and the development of advanced technological solutions for the customers of its main companies: Danobat, Soraluce and Goimek.
The technological leadership of the Danobatgroup industrial group has once again been recognised. This time, by the Basque Business and Society Foundation. Yesterday, at the Basque Business Night held at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the group received the Business Innovation Award — another milestone in the group’s 70-year history.
With a presence in international markets such as Germany, the United States, the Netherlands, Italy and China, among others, Danobatgroup brings its hallmark of excellence to highly demanding sectors such as aeronautics, energy, capital goods and railways. In 2024, it closed the year with a record turnover of 344 million euros, a milestone that reflects its strength and ability to anticipate industry challenges.
The jury of the award, shared with the company Zunibal, highlighted the group's "innovative vision" and its commitment to Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I), to which it allocates 9% of its annual revenues. Currently, 15% of its 1,459-strong workforce is engaged in this activity.
"Receiving this award is an honour that fills us with pride and highlights our firm commitment to innovation from day one. You only have to look at the prestigious organisations that have received it over the last 30 years to realise what it means", said Nerea Aranguren, CEO of Danobatgroup, during the presentation of the award.
Leading industrial innovation
The group as a whole holds more than 200 patents accumulated over its history, with over 50 currently being commercially exploited.
Soraluce, with 60 years of experience, has revolutionised the sector with technologies such as the DAS (Dynamic Active Stabiliser System), awarded in 2015 as "International Quality Innovation of the Year" and "Best of Industry" for its capacity to eliminate vibrations in real time, tripling cutting capacity. Another highlight is the development of DWS (Dynamic Workpiece Stabilizer), a solution awarded in 2020 as "European Quality Innovation of the Year", which optimises stability in the machining of complex workpieces.
Furthermore, the Danobat cooperative launched this year an innovative precision robot that represents another revolutionary step forward in advanced manufacturing. The product range combines the agility of a six-axis robot with the stability and precision characteristic of a machine. The result delivers exceptional performance, tripling repeatability and accuracy in operations such as drilling or riveting.
In the case of Goimek, its expertise has led it to machine parts for highly relevant space missions such as Perseverance, Solar Orbiter, and Juice, among others
In addition to the numerous technological milestones achieved by the group's companies, the Ideko research centre plays a key role as the driving force behind Danobatgroup's innovation. Specialising in manufacturing and industrial production technologies, Ideko is at the forefront of strategic areas such as precision, digitalisation, machine and process dynamics and control, and precision robotics. These capabilities enable Danobatgroup companies to anticipate future needs and offer solutions that set them apart in the industry.
"The commitment to innovation has been part of our DNA since our origins and Ideko is a strategic element. We have created a unique ecosystem of collaboration that allows us to be at the forefront of manufacturing technologies and develop cutting-edge solutions that define the direction for Danobatgroup companies," said Nerea Aranguren.
The commitment to innovation will continue to be one of the pillars of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan, a cycle built around four key axes: technological innovation, servitisation, diversification and internationalisation, with Artificial Intelligence, sustainability and talent as cross-cutting themes.
Danobatgroup's new award reaffirms its position as a business and technological benchmark in the Basque Country, where the group is deeply rooted.
The Basque Business Night awards, given annually by the Basque Business and Society Foundation, recognise the work of companies and individuals representative of the Basque industrial fabric in four categories: 'Best Basque Entrepreneur', 'Made in Euskadi', 'Business Innovation' and 'Euskal Makila'.
