SORALUCE F-MT multi-function milling-turning centre to showcase at EMO 2013

SORALUCE F-MT multi-function milling-turning centre to showcase at EMO 2013

The SORALUCE F-MT milling-turning center will be exhibited on Hall 13 - Stand B36 of the main worldwide trade fair for metalworking technology, EMO 2013. The F-MT milling-turning centre combines both Milling and Vertical Turning technologies in a single machine. It provides the possibility of manufacturing complex components in a single machine, offering remarkable versatility which leads to effective real time saving and associated cost savings for end users. It integrates a flexible working area that can be configurated to  customers’ needs with one or multiple working stations with fixed tables usable for both milling and turning operations. This Multi-Tasking machine can complete all operations in a single set-up, i.e. turning, milling, boring, drilling, tapping, etc.,  on very intricate parts for industries such as: aeronautics, energy and precision engineering for both unitary and serial production. Machining the components in a single set-up prevents the need for additional component manipulation thereby ensuring high precision machining results.

The F-MT is provided with high dynamics: 45 m/min speed in X axis and 35 m/min for the Y/Z axes with an acceleration of 2 m/s2 in each individual axis. This, combined with the high power and torque of the main spindle and improved thrust forces in all axes , results in a state-of-the-art solution for high chip removal capacity and stable cutting conditions for both milling and turning. The machine is equipped with a high torque direct drive spindle motor of 43 kW, guaranteeing high stock removal capacity, low heat level, minimum maintenance, reduced noise and high precision and efficiency. For the turning operations, the F-MT incorporates an automatic system for automatic loading / unloading of the turning head outside the working area. This turning head is attached to the main body of the machine milling head, endowing it with high chip removal capacity during turning operations as well as precise machining whilst fully protecting the bearings of the head. The machine will be fitted with the new HEIDENHAIN iTNC640 – HSCI control system, with the special cycles developed by SORALUCE for turning functions integrated in the CNC control unit. The machine is equipped with a robot-based tool arena with 250 stations .    Adaptive control The SORALUCE F-MT milling-turning centre is equipped with an adaptive control unit. It consists of automatic adjustment of the defined cutting parameters depending on the real machining situation, achieving optimum performance conditions. The cycle automatically speeds up and slows down depending on the real stock removal, favouring unattended machining and a cost efficient production process.
