Danobatgroup reinforces its social commitment to combat Covid-19
  • The industrial group is collaborating with the Red Cross, the charity organisation Caritas and the Food Bank to alleviate the impact of the pandemic on vulnerable groups
  • The business organisation is seeking to promote solidarity, social well-being and cohesion in its immediate environment in the current health emergency situation.

Distribution of computers and installation of Internet connections to facilitate on-line training during the confinement to overcome the digital divide, disinfection systems for ambulances, food distribution to vulnerable families and telephone assistance services for older people are some of the initiatives with which the machine-tool manufacturer Danobatgroup has collaborated economically since the start of the emergency health situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Specifically, the industrial group, which maintains a strong commitment to the social transformation of its area of immediate influence, has devoted funds to the value of €80,000 to different solidarity programmes with the aim of mitigating the impact of the crisis caused by the disease.

Within the framework of these collaborations, the group has financed a machine for the disinfection of Red Cross ambulances in Azkoitia in Gipuzkoa. In cooperation with this same organisation, Danobatgroup has supported the supply of computers to facilitate the distance learning of Elgoibar students, so that they can follow the on-line classes properly. Laptop computers have also been provided to schools in the municipality of Bergara, as well as an Internet connection up to the end of the course for a total of 33 students to overcome the digital divide.

Moreover, the group has coordinated with the Red Cross, the charity organisation Caritas and Food Bank to assume the cost of delivery of essential products to some 500 families during the months of April and May in the localities of Elgoibar, Azkoitia, Bergara, Soraluze, Lekeitio, Andoain and Deba-Itziar. Just in the month of May, this project contributed €35,400.

It has also contributed economically to the telephone assistance service for older people, “Zilarrezko haria”, with which the voluntary body for older people, Nagusilan, provided free telephone assistance to the older age group which is suffering greater solitude due to the pandemic and confinement.

Furthermore, the group has decided to bring forward the economic aid which it gives every year to international bodies such as UNICEF, ACNUR and Médecins Sans Frontières, so that these organisations can implement projects and initiatives in these very exceptional circumstances.

These actions will join the various initiatives undertaken during the first months of the year, such as the donation of masks to a Chinese NGO at the start of the year with the aim of contributing to alleviating the Covid-19 epidemic in the Asian country, and to the distribution of another 6000 units to a total of 10 old people’s homes in municipalities in Danobatgroup´s immediate area.

Through the support of these initiatives, the business group seeks to consolidate its corporate values and promote solidarity, social well-being and cohesion of its area of influence in the current health emergency situation.
