Two EcoVadis certificates underline Danobatgroup´s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals
  •  The companies Danobat and Soraluce of the Basque industrial group have been awarded a gold and silver rating respectively by Ecovadis, the worldwide benchmark for the assessment and certification of corporate sustainability.
  • This prestigious assessment is proof of the commitment to sustainability of the group, that hinges on a specific action plan, integrated into the strategic plan to comply with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Danobatgroup industrial group reaffirms its commitment to the environment and climate, the social transformation of the community and the development of its human capital. As a result of this strategy, Danobat and Soraluce, the two flagship companies of the machine tool manufacturer, have seen their efforts endorsed in 2021 with an EcoVadis certification in climate and environmental sustainability, ethics and governance. This prestigious recognition highlights the commitment of both firms to sustainability.

Specifically, Danobat obtained a gold rating, while Soraluce was awarded the silver medal. These recognitions reinforce and stimulate the group´s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“The high rating with which EcoVadis certifies Danobat and Soraluce´s commitment to sustainability encourages us to continue moving in this direction, and is a recognition of our cooperative DNA with its characteristic focus on the long term, which allows us not only to evolve in step with the transformations, but also to anticipate the challenges, moving towards intelligent business models", says Danobatgroup´s CEO, Pello Rodríguez.

A rigorous assessment system

The methodology used by EcoVadis´ independent consultants assesses the quality of a company´s sustainability management system by analysing its policies, actions and concrete results, rating the company according to performance criteria in the field of environmental sustainability, ethical standards, respect for human rights and compliance with labour standards.

The EcoVadis platform establishes a harmonised sustainability rating system, using universal performance score cards with benchmarks, informing of the current status of each company and areas for improvement.

After undergoing the assessment, the manufacturer of machine tools and advanced production systems Danobat was awarded the gold medal, which recognises the quality of its sustainability management model, based on the customisation of the solutions and services it offers its customers to ensure adaptation to their needs and the integration of sustainability and social responsibility across all links of the value chain.

“Danobat´s track record is marked by the pursuit of excellence with the mission to increase the competitiveness of our customers and to meet their technological challenges. If we wish to continue in this direction, sustainability emerges as a key element for building the industry of the future. This is a commitment adopted on the basis of our firm determination for innovation and sustainable growth and accomplished thanks to the talent of the people who make up our company", assures Danobat´s director, Xabier Alzaga.

As well as that, Soraluce, a leader in the development of milling, boring and multifunctional solutions technologies, was certified in the silver category thanks to a structured and proactive approach to sustainability.

“At Soraluce, we believe that sustainable development and respect for the environment are undisputed keys to the future, which is why we have put in place a short and medium-term action plan in the field of sustainability. We are also working on improving our management system by establishing concrete action. In fact, sustainability is not a new area for us. In 2010, more than 10 years ago, Soraluce became the first company in the machine tool sector to achieve the ISO 14006 Ecodesign Management System certification for its commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its products," says Soraluce´s managing director, Rafa Idigoras.
